Peanut is the "Jewel of Jewels" in our little family. He is the son of Gandalfe the Black and our precious, late Guinevere Lass. He got the best of both sides. Let me explain .....
There were five puppies in Guinie's one and only litter. Three days after they were born they all started to die, one at a time -- I was devastated. Peanut was the last born and his only surviving brother was next-to-last born. I would hold Peanut on my chest to keep him warm and I would say to him, "Please live for Mom." -- and he did!!! His brother went to live with a Poodle and our friends in Carlsbad, New Mexico.
I haven't had to wash Peanut's face since Fluffy came to live here -- she washes his face everyday! He just lays there and lets her.
He is so very loving. When I am laying on the bed, all I have to say is, "Come give Momma some lovin's." and he will jump up, run up to me, flip over and lay across my neck. We call it his "neck hugs". They are so very precious. He will lay there forever as long as he gets some scratchings.
He doesn't like heights over about two feet. He will cling to your neck when you pick him up, but oh, how he loves to be picked up!!!
He occassionally challenges his daddy for the position of top dog. It doesn't get him anywhere and after several years you would think he would get it through his thick little Peke brain! Gandyman just body slams him upside-down and stands over him until he settles down.
He is like his mother is so many ways. I miss her so and he keeps her alive in my memories. He loves his doggie cookies and will leave the rest of the group to go into the bedroom to eat them in solitude, just like his mother did. And, like his mother, he doesn't put up with any inappropriate behavior from any of the rest of them.
His name is Sammy, but he is my little Peanut, Guinie's boy.
