We went down to Phoenix, Arizona, to pick up Arwen and Frodo in April, 2007. The Pekingese Club there was having a "Pekenic" and so we got to meet a few of her relatives. She was just a little white ball, so round and plump!! When I picked her up I asked her if she was going to be my little girl, and she kissed me and wagged her little tail. The breeder was surprised saying that she had never done that to anyone before. I felt special.
Her mother's name was JingJing and her daddy was Snow Sparkles.
She never did learn her name after several weeks so we thought maybe it was too hard to remember. We call her "Fluffy" for a couple of reasons. One is that she doesn't look like she missed any meals!!! She isn't really overweight, but you can't feel any ribs. The other reason is because it takes her so long to learn anything or keep it in her little fluffy head.
She didn't progress as fast as Frodo did. It took her about three weeks to catch on to anything new whereas Frodo got it right away. She couldn't figure out the doggie door for a long time. Frodo would go out and she would sit there and cry. She did figure out that she should go outside to potty through that thing, but she wouldn't go through it -- she would just potty in front of it. After a couple weeks of this she discovered she could push it open and then it was in and out and in and out and in and out!!!
Arwen is a very sweet-hearted little girl. She will crawl up on your chest when you lay in the bed, look you in the eye, turn her little head side-ways and press her cheek into your cheek really hard to give you a big hug. When it comes time to trim her feet, she lays upside-down on her back and sleeps through the whole proceedure.
She loves those NylaBones. We buy them four at a time so that there is enough to go around but she lays claim to them all. She puts them up on the bed and guards them. We call it her "Doggie Crack". She holds them in her mouth like a cigar!
Guinie would never want her on the bed and I really didn't know why since she let the boys up there. Then I realized it was a territorial thing -- the bed, as well as Paul, were her possessions! After Guinie passed, Fluffy didn't waste any time in positioning herself on the bed next to Paul. Gandyman assumed the position of leader of the pack but a little reluctantly -- he really didn't want the job. I was hoping he would take over the job since Fluffy just didn't have the qualifications that Guinie did. Gandyman allows Fluffy certain privileges, but she knows not to mess with him.
I haven't had to wash Peanut's face since Fluffy came to live here -- she washes his face everyday! He just lays there and lets her.
She is the lovely one, my little fluffy one -- and Paul's little Precioussssss.
